Announcement on the currently unknown outbreak

First recorded: South Zagoria Region, Chernarus

Pandemic Level: Increased from a Phase 4 to Phase 6

vtpetHm.png

Information:

WHO personnel are working around the clock to try to understand the ongoing pandemic. The level has been raised from Phase 4 to Phase 6, indicating it has spread beyond community outbreaks, to having at least one outbreak in another WHO region. Currently, new cases have been reported in Europe, Asia, and the United States. WHO researchers believe the infection to originate from Eastern Chernarus.

Idiopathic symptoms thus far appear unaffected by antibiotics or antivirals. Early symptoms of the illness present with influenza-like symptoms. Symptoms worsen over an average eight(8) day period.

Symptoms:

First week (+/-) one to seven (1-7) days.

Symptoms grow in severity each following day:

  • Body Aches

  • Coughing

  • Fever

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Numbness

  • Sneezing

  • Sore throat

Over a (+/-) six (6) hour period on the (+/-) eighth (8th) day symptoms further include:

  • Agitation

  • Aggression

  • Anger

  • Confusion

  • Delirium

  • Hallucinations

  • Panic

  • Rapid cognitive deterioration

After the (+/-) sixth (6th) hour the victim goes into a comatose state. They become unresponsive to stimuli, including pain. Brain activity continues, leading doctors to believe brain function does as well. After a brief moment in time, ranging from several minutes to an hour, the patient will awaken from the comatose state.

Upon gaining consciousness, patients fall into a hyper aggressive episode; physically attacking, biting, or clawing at anyone near. They appear unresponsive to verbal commands and are not lucid. Patients also exhibit congenital insensitivity to pain. (CIP).

WHO restates the urgency for sanitization, along with cooperating with any police and military forces in the area. Please remember to;

  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water after touching food or using the bathroom.

  • Wearing masks that cover the mouth and nose.

  • Cover your face and mouth when sneezing .

  • Any health workers or citizens who interact with blood, ensure the use of sterilized gloves and wash your hands well afterward.

  • Sanitize belongings with a mixture of 1 teaspoon of bleach per 1 gallon of water. For a spray bottle, ¾ tsp of bleach and fill with room temperature water.

  • Do not share drinks, straws, or anything that saliva comes in contact with .

  • Use protection such as condoms or dental dam during sexual activity.

  • The numbers to the pandemic line, emergency line, and aid lines are all listed below, as well as being constantly shown on all TV stations, available by region online, and have been sent to cell phones with emergency alert notices.

  • If you begin to show any signs of symptoms, please contact your local pandemic line.

  • Use the designated emergency lines for your area if you need medical aid and are under curfew. Remember this line is not for those showing signs of infection. This includes help for the elderly, children, injuries, vital medications needed, et.

  • Please cooperate with local law enforcement in reinforcing lockdowns and curfews. These are in place for public safety. If you are told to stay inside, listen and follow directions. If you have questions about your curfew or are in need of basic supplies, contact your local aid line. Do NOT leave your home to try to obtain items if a lockdown is in place.

Update on Anthropophagus viridae

The previously unknown infection has been classified as Anthropophagus viridae, or AVir18.

The original victims admitted to Elektrozavodsk Hospital in Chernarus, were investigated further to find commonalities. Chernarussian detectives accessed bank records of the deceased and discovered all subjects had patroned the same restaurant on the same day.

The family owned restaurant located in Elektrozavodsk has been quarantined and is under investigation. The owners have been fully cooperating with authorities. It was discovered that the beef available that day had been contaminated by this infectious strain.

The beef was fresh from the owners’ farm, located a few miles from town, and they insist there had been no symptoms or indications that the animal was ill or injured prior to slaughter. The restaurant had proper levels of cleanliness from the sanitation departments previous inspection.

While it is still unsure if the illness originates from this restaurant, locals have been providing aid to the family in the meantime.

Update on Anthropophagus lyssavirus (previously Anthropophagus viridae)

WHO and CDC personnel have made some headway. Originally hypothesized to have been a prion disease, scientists are now confirming as a virus. Scientists believe the virus to be closest related to the Rhabdoviridae family. Possibly a new strand of lyssavirus.

Scientists have stated; while this virus has similarities to the Rhabdoviridae family and the rabies lyssavirus, this strand has variations that are unique. They believe it is an extreme mutation or a new strain altogether.

The virus thus far has proven immune to all medications and treatments administered. Doctors have been resorting to treating the symptoms as best they can.

Update on Anthropophagus viridae

Scientists reporting from Chernarus have made the discovery that 60% of domestic cattle carry the virus but appear asymptomatic.

Scientists believe that the spread of the virus is mainly human to human contact or exposure. They also theorize it may be fluid-borne as well as airborne to have caused this amount of contagion in such a small-time frame.

The cattle in the greater Chernarus region will be exterminated humanely in an attempt to further limit spread. All beef products are being pulled from shelves and destroyed. It is strongly urged that any and all meat products not be consumed.

Upon further testing, WHO personnel have discovered that unlike most bacteria and viruses, this strain is seemingly resistant to high temperatures. Cooking meat products is not seen as a viable method for safe ingestion.
